I found this book at a perfect time in my life where I was overwhelmed by stress and anxiety。 It helped me take a moment and relax and focus on my breathing and living in the moment。 Short and helpful book。 Definitely recommend。

Amy,
I love the gentle yet relentless reminders and strategies on how to be more in the present。 I especially loved the part about confronting your habit energies。 A good read for folks with spinning brains and never ending to-do lists。
Bailey,
I liked the practices in this installment of Hanh's series; my favourite being the orange meditation。 I liked the practices in this installment of Hanh's series; my favourite being the orange meditation。 。。。more
Shaili Jain,
This short book contains a lot of helpful advice to supplement a meditation practice。 Not necessary to read all at once, its short nuggets of advice/tips can be perused as needed。
Artemisia Hunt,
In this “age of distraction” we could probably all benefit from a little book called How To Focus, but perhaps especially one by the late Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh。 I know it was just the kind of concise positive wisdom that I was needing lately and that this gentle spiritual teacher was known for。 I’ve read many of his books, including several of these pocket sized “How To” gems, and he has always seemed to find a way to get to the heart of any matter with the simplest of means。
Mark,
With his characteristic simplicity and clarity, Thich Nhat Hanh explains how living in the moment can free us from mental suffering and bring us closer to a deeper peace and awareness。
Arianna Ambrosio,
Reading this book is a form of meditation for us ADHD girlies。
Hanin,
This book really taught me how to focus practically。 I also learned how focus can benefit us with appreciating of what we currently have ♡
Destiny Poeth,
Very quick read that inspires to work on my mindfullness and gives ways to start on it
S。,
If you’re already familiar with these series, just go straight to the 16 steps to develop a better focus and I think all the text before it was already written by the author elsewhere so it would feel redundant…Always a delight to read him !
John,
In。 Out。
Toan Huynh,
simple and beautiful guide
Taylor Lee,
Ah, aimlessness, joy, peace。 Look how, with each molecule: delight。
EB,
I did enjoy this book, I found it simple and easy to apply to everyday life。 It was written carefully and with great detail。 I liked how the author had structured the book, important ideas very clearly portrayed。

You have to go into this book understanding that it's a practical book and not a story despite the fact that stories are incorporated。 There is a lot of repetition and there's nothing ground breaking it's just a good reminder for things we should be doing。 The great part about the book is that it actually gives you tools to help guide you。 This isn't a specialized therapy book designed for each reader so don't expect a miracle。 But the book can at least get you started。 It was a quick read that You have to go into this book understanding that it's a practical book and not a story despite the fact that stories are incorporated。 There is a lot of repetition and there's nothing ground breaking it's just a good reminder for things we should be doing。 The great part about the book is that it actually gives you tools to help guide you。 This isn't a specialized therapy book designed for each reader so don't expect a miracle。 But the book can at least get you started。 It was a quick read that allows us to be grounded and stay mindful of a lot in our lives。The one critique I would say is that some of the stories seemed misplaced and there may be too much repetition in the beginning。 I am not sure if things got lost in translation literally or got added but overall this is nice。 。。。more
Ọlábísí Àkàndé,
Easy to read。 The keypoints are in the last few pages which teaches how to focus on meditation but the reflection leading to it are very insightful as well。

Anthony Crispin,
This book was cute, short, sweet and I liked it!If you want a goo goo ga ga babies first introduction to Zen Buddhism that doesn’t require you to think very hard, this is a good pick。
Simone Smith,
I've been practising meditation on a frequent basis recently, and even though I've been struggling overall with my mental health, it's definitely helped to calm my mind in those difficult moments。 This was a good source of guidance for me。 I think there's a lot of wealth in what Buddhism has to teach, and this is a very accessible entry point if you're completely new to it。 I've been practising meditation on a frequent basis recently, and even though I've been struggling overall with my mental health, it's definitely helped to calm my mind in those difficult moments。 This was a good source of guidance for me。 I think there's a lot of wealth in what Buddhism has to teach, and this is a very accessible entry point if you're completely new to it。 。。。more

A nice introduction to Hanh's body of work。 You can carry this book in your pocket during your travels, pull it out to remember some of the mindful breathing exercises。 An essential guide for managing complex and sometimes overwhelming times。 A nice introduction to Hanh's body of work。 You can carry this book in your pocket during your travels, pull it out to remember some of the mindful breathing exercises。 An essential guide for managing complex and sometimes overwhelming times。 。。。more
Shelley,
This book has a lot of concepts that are new to me。 I liked reading his explanations for non duality, emptiness, signlessness (which really just means all beings and things are made of and impacted by each other so none of us are separate)。 Aimlessness being good and a goal is a little hard for me to wrap my head around。 How does anyone survive life if they’re aimless? How does that work in capitalism? Why is striving to learn or grow a negative, especially if you enjoy it and/or it’s in line w This book has a lot of concepts that are new to me。 I liked reading his explanations for non duality, emptiness, signlessness (which really just means all beings and things are made of and impacted by each other so none of us are separate)。 Aimlessness being good and a goal is a little hard for me to wrap my head around。 How does anyone survive life if they’re aimless? I think this small book tries to take on a lot of large concepts and unless you’re already familiar with them it can be hard to fully understand sections of the book。 I’d like to read some of the longer texts referenced in the book and then this little book can serve more as a reminder of those teachings after I’ve understood them。 I also liked that this talked about how you can’t understand something if you’re not interested in it, and how when you’re interested you become mindful and concentrated。 。。。more
Chetna,
Great insight and meditation techniques to help you live now, live happy and be your true self。 Thich Nhat Hanh shares techniques to help with concentration, mindfulness and how to nuture a clear mind。 ‘The more we think, the less available we are to what is around us。’‘The day you’ve been waiting for is today。 The moment that you’ve been waiting for is this very moment。’‘Nirvana means taking the time to enjoy where we are。’
Jackie,
Reading Thich Nhat Hanh always leaves me feeling like I’ve accessed some deeper, more peaceful reality。 That applies to this book, but the “mindfulness essentials” format was too brief and shallow for me。 I’ll likely stick with his longer books from now on。
alicebme,
I’ve been reading this book since July, and it has been so helpful。 I never thought of myself as someone who needed to focus more, because I get everything done。 My mind, however, is a swirling mess。
